Everyone seems to bash on younger generations for embracing ideas that aren't traditionally accepted. While you may not agree with some of these ideas, there are definitely upsides to these new ways of thinking.
Although there are still some stigmas revolving around how people should look and act, there's no doubt that society has generally become more accepting of those who are different. In past generations, it was not considered "normal" for someone to be LGBT, have a different body type or even hair color. In past times, gays were forced to hide who they are in order to avoid being shunned. With recent generations becoming more open and secure with who they are, people have been forced to accept these unconventional ways.
I think technology has allowed people to gain insight into different cultures, lifestyles, and struggles which are unique from their own. Our generation has become more supportive and accepting of those with mental illnesses, rather than ostracizing others for being different. It's really powerful that people with various disabilities are shown in TV shows and movies like Forrest Gump, Atypical, and The Good Doctor and are portrayed as genuine, talented, successful people- rather than pitied. This shift in Hollywood has encouraged people to accept those who may not be picture-perfect and also to highlight that it's okay to be open about our struggles.
Hollywood has also increasingly made more movies and tv shows starring people of color, which allows more diverse audiences to relate to characters and to feel hopeful about their futures. No longer will children of color dismiss their dreams of becoming famous or successful, because they now have a place in this industry. Although I don't exactly dream to be a celebrity, I find comfort in seeing Indian women starring in tv shows which embrace their cultures, rather than try to American-ize who they are.
Along with accepting people who aren't purely white, recent generations have become more accepting of different body images. The Body Positivity movement is something which was not always present in society. This new movement has encouraged people to post unedited, natural pictures, as well as pushed retail companies to increasingly use plus-sized models in advertising all clothing lines. This evolution of promoting all body types has encouraged women especially to love themselves as they are, rather than try to fit the mold of one single body type.
Although it may seem that younger crowds are consumed by technology, we have grown up learning that it is OK to be different and to embrace our unique features. Generation Z and Millennials are making a positive shift in society, creating a more welcoming community for those of all colors, body types, genders, backgrounds etc. So why not go with the flow and embrace it?
