How many times have you thought about bragging your success on Instagram or Facebook? How many times have you thought “I hope [person’s name] see this so she/he can see that I am better than her/him”? How many times have you thought about achieving something great just to prove to others that you are better than them? I have to say ‘yes’ to all of those questions. It is very easy to be deceived by the facade of success and wash it on people’s faces.
If you want to achieve something big or have success in the things you do, do it for yourself. Do it because it is a way of becoming a better person. Do it to reach a goal of yours. Do it as an example for your family and friends. Do it to overcome your fears and highest obstacles. If you are successful and you do it for the right reasons, you’ll be happy with yourself and with others.
I had to learn this the hard way. More than wanting to be a successful person, I wanted people to see and notice me. But it doesn’t matter if you get what you want, if you do it for the wrong reasons, you’ll never be satisfied and you’ll never enjoy the things you have today.
Once I had learned this, I started to enjoy each little achievement that I had done. I stopped worrying about making people notice me and instead I just worked hard for my goals. I found pure joy every time I overcame something and had success at the end of every project.
If you want to be successful, do it for the right reasons and not to impress anybody.
