24 True Events That Prove People At Baylor Are Genuinely The Kindest People On Earth
Macy Scott

I went on my first tour of Baylor University almost exactly three years ago. I remember looking at my mom with disbelief halfway through our walk across campus. Sure, I appreciated the overly-nice, almost (sic)kening kindness that legitimately every student, faculty, and staff member showed me. But I couldn't help but think that it was all a facade; there was no possible way that every person at this college was truly welcoming, helpful, and positively chipper.

When I finally stepped foot on campus during the fall of my freshman year as a real student, I held my breath, waiting patiently to experience someone who didn't fit the overly-kind and generous Baylor mold.

Well, almost two years later, I'm about to pass out from holding my breath. It's true folks; Baylor is filled with genuinely nice people. If you don't believe me yet, here's 24 almost unbelievably kind experiences that I've witnessed at this amazing school.

1. I can leave my $2,000 Macbook in Moody Library for two hours and return to find it untouched.

2. If you lose your student ID, there is a literal manhunt on Facebook with students trying to return it to its rightful owner.

3. Ms. Elaine at Penland dining hall has made a point to memorize my omelette order in the mornings.

4. I don't think I've ever opened a door for myself. Gotta love Baylor men.

5. Strangers throw out compliments like confetti.

6. The Baylor police will drive you home at night for free when it's too cold, too rainy, or you're just too tired to walk.

7. My French professor came to watch one of my lacrosse games. With a foam finger. Cheering loudly for ME.

8. There is always someone to get notes from if you have to miss class.

9. Ms. Mei. 'Nuff said.

10. I got trampled while running the Line freshman year, and a stranger made sure that I was OK.

11. People are ALWAYS willing to study with you so you don't have to sit alone in Moody Library.

12. When you write "Do not erase" on a whiteboard in Moody, people seriously don't erase your notes.

13. My professors make an effort to learn my name and still remember me once I finish the class.

14. My professors actually email me back. Promptly.

15. People constantly yell "Sic 'em!" and "Welcome to Baylor!" when tour groups walk by.

16. Even the living, breathing BEARS on campus waved to me, once.

17. No one has ever made fun of my Crocs.

18. A student told me I looked beautiful in class one day. When I wasn't wearing ANY makeup.

19. Students willingly share their Quizlets with strangers.

20. I unknowingly dropped a dollar out of my pocket, and someone RACED behind me to give it back to me.

21. Making friends here is actually effortless.

22. When you make eye contact with a stranger, they almost always smile.

23. When I didn't have my car here freshman year, I was offered rides almost every single day.

24. I told President Livingstone that I was her biggest fan, and she didn't think I was weird.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
