Battling The Boredom

How do we fight this battle?

Boredom. Unless you are abroad, on a mini-term in an exciting new country or on vacation with the fam, it is 100 percent bound to happen over these glorious six weeks. How do we fight this battle? How on earth can we occupy our time without spending infinite hours in bed Netflix and chillin' with yourself? Watching romantic Christmas movies makes you feel like you will be forever alone and the next thing you know you're on Tinder. Don't stoop to that level! Here are some ideas to get the time flowing towards Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year's.

1. Ice Skating

If you live near NYC, bust out those skates and go to Rockefeller Center or Bryant Park. Maybe dress as Buddy the Elf to keep things interesting, just try not to eat shit.

2. Bake

Blast Mariah's "All I Want For Christmas" and make some dank treats.

3. Get Crafty

If you're in a sorority this comes as second nature by now. Make some cool letters to decorate your room, go on Pinterest and find some festive ideas, or make something for your common room or house. Perhaps get in touch with your inner grandma and learn how to knit.

4. Go To The Gym

Barf, but hey, we could all shed some pounds from all of the feasting that comes with the holidays and it takes a chunk out of your day.

5. Have a Party

Banger or not, invite people over and have fuuuuun. Hopefully your parents are chill by now and will let you. Maybe have a theme, but most importantly, have good snacks.

6. Stalk Your Pets

With boredom comes hundreds of videos and pictures of your animals. Definitely get a pic with them wearing a Santa hat, it's only expected. There's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of because they are cute af, so fill your SnapStories ASAP, I want to see pups and kittens.

That's really all I got, boredom is a tough opponent, good luck!

xoxo, Caro

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
