Ah, it's finally fall! The weather is cooler, the air is crisper, and the Pumpkin Spice Latte (a.k.a. PSL) is officially being sold at Starbucks - could things get any better?! Not for your basic college girl, especially not your basic college girl in Florida who has been living in ninety-degree heat since April... and kind of still is. But we'll disregard that because I am WAY too excited about the change in seasons to let a little humidity get in my way! And, like most basic college girls, here are the top ten things I'm most excited for this fall!

1. Hot Coffee/Hot Chocolate Time

Giphy

Not super basic but... us basic college girls love when it's time to finally trade in the clear Starbucks cup for the solid white one. Plus, instead of asking your barista for an "Iced White Chocolate Mocha" you can simply say "White Chocolate Mocha" and use that extra ten seconds to run to the class you're already late for.

2. The Colors

Giphy

Everyone loves fall colors, but no one loves finally being able to wear brown boots, maroon dresses, and yellow and burnt-orange colored sweaters like a basic college girl.

3. New Beginnings/A Season of Change

Giphy

While this is stereotypically associated with spring, most people nowadays see each change of the season as a new beginning. Not super basic, right? Until you start writing about it (totally calling myself out here), turning it into Instagram captions, and making it a whole freaking mood...

4. Hocus Pocus

Giphy

There's a reason FreeForm plays this movie, like, nightly in October. And Target (the basic college girl store) sells ten different t-shirts with Hocus Pocus quotes on them. And meme pages start trying to make it "relatable" during spooky season. The most basic Halloween movie on the planet *insert eye roll emoji* I still love it, though, but I am a basic college girl so...

5. Halloween

Giphy

And speaking of spooky season... the most basic season on the planet besides the entirety of fall itself. It's time for all those basic costumes (but all still super cute, definitely my go-to choices). Watch out for those black cats, angels, and bunnies that all have perfectly straight hair (yeah, yeah, yeah - I'm included in this, but I've accepted my basic-ness).

6. Pumpkin Patches

Giphy

Now it's time to fill our Insta feeds with the most basic fall content from our local pumpkin patches, and, if you go to my school, catch everyone posing with some oversized sunflowers on a farm, too. Makes perfect sense!

7. Boots - You Know Which Ones I'm Talking About, Too...

Giphy

FINALLY - it is finally time to break out those knee-high brown boots you've been staring at in your closet since June or the black, heeled booties you might have worn a couple of times in early September... but the most basic boot of all can finally make its grand reappearance - the Ugg.

8. Fall-Scented Candles

Giphy

Oof, the basic-ness is starting to become kind of painful, but I still support it 100%. Especially as I'm about to head out to Bath and Body Works to pick up a Vanilla Pumpkin Cupcake, Pumpkin Pie, Caramel Pumpkin Swirl, and whatever other crazy fall-scented candles they have waiting for me this season.

9. Sweater Weather

Giphy

Almost the epitome of this season's basic-ness. From the moment fall ends up until it starts again, every basic college girl is talking about how excited they are for the cozy, cuddly, oversized sweater weather.

10. SUPER BASIC WARNING: PSL

Giphy

The PSL... what gets more basic than this during fall? It comes as hot or iced, whipped cream or not, and there is even a new Pumpkin Spice CREAM Latte (so, I guess a PSCL?) with cold brew this year that I can say really makes me feel like the leaves are changing outside amidst a crisp, cool wind. And since I live in Florida and that doesn't really actually happen, I need to be super basic to really enjoy the beautiful season of fall.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
