I’ll admit, I’m partial to baseball. I don’t know why and I don’t know how it started, but there’s something about the game that I genuinely enjoy (not to mention, it’s the only sport I actually understand). Maybe it’s because growing up, my dad had the Yankee game on every night during dinner (I repeat– EVERY night during dinner). Maybe it’s because it was the first sport I watched my brother play. Maybe it’s because boys look exceptionally good in a pair of baseball pants. Who really knows?
What I do know is that it’s the end of June, which means we’re smack in the middle of baseball season. Whether or not you fully understand baseball, attending a game is a great way to spend a summer night. If you live on Long Island, or in any one of the boroughs, the good news is that getting to Citi Field or Yankee Stadium is only a train ride away. So round up everyone in your group message because there’s no better way to bond with your friends than over greasy food and overpriced beer! It doesn’t matter if you’re going with one person or a whole group, it’s still a fun night out. It’s something a little different to do, plus you can usually find seats (probably not the greatest seats, but seats nonetheless) that won’t break the bank. Not to mention, it’s a great idea for a date. It’s not the usual dinner and movie, and there are plenty of opportunities for Instagram worthy pictures! Baseball games are also appropriate for a family outing, if you decide to ditch your friends for the day. Suitable for all ages, you’re never too old to watch your favorite players hit a home run. And whether you’re going with your parents, or you’re a parent yourself, everyone loves those baseball hat cups that they serve ice cream in.
So if you’re looking for a way to take advantage of a nice summer day or night, a baseball game is definitely a good option. You might even be lucky (and/or coordinated) enough to catch a foul ball!
