Barnes and Noble: An Addiction

The place where our bank accounts go to die

If a bookworm ever commits a crime, don't sent them to jail. Sent them a bookstore. That way, they'll never want to leave.

Barnes and Noble is widely known the place here everyone loses money. It almost manifests a black hole and causes unconsciousness to the point where your money becomes so invaluable that you start throwing it away on comic books and vinyls.

Although it's a store that is ultimately well-natured and more knowledgeable than a toy store, for an adult that loves to read, it might as well be a toy store.

I find myself strolling down every isle just to see the collection and somehow convincing myself that I need this week's best seller or the fictional character themed merchandise.

Barnes and Noble is undoubtedly one of the best places to go, mainly because of the usual connected Starbucks (with free wifi), the never-ending isles of journals and agendas, the piles of new books and the clearance section.

While I truly envy those who have complete control over themselves in this store, I find it extremely difficult to control myself and my spending.

Without a doubt some of the greatest struggles, is trying to figure out which books I want to buy, and which I can muster the strength to put back on the shelf. I love reading stories, and with this modern age there are countless stories to be told and read. Places like bookstores are heaven, and unfortunately when I go inside. I never want to leave. I recall several times in the past, where friends and family have had to nearly pull me out of the store.

Now, naturally I'm extremely indecisive. I can barely decide what I want to eat, let alone chose something I'm passionate about. I recall growing up, how my parents would take me to Borders growing up every now and then, and It would take me a very long time to decide on a book to bring home, and finish within a day.

That perhaps it why I so greatly valued libraries growing up. I could easily just select a big pile of books to bring home with me, without having to worry about prices.

This did make it easier, despite the fact that they had to be returned, but in some cases renewed. Just this past weekend, I was fortunate enough to get the chance to go Barnes and Noble, and bankrupt myself getting a selection of books for me to read in my free time. This, is perhaps my greatest flaw. I'm 19 years old as I write this article, and when I get the chance to spent free money especially in a place in which has an endless supply of things I enjoy. I'm going to bankrupt myself simply because I enjoy it so much. I love bookstores, and reading in general. And I know within the future, I'm very likely going to find myself back there again. With money to spent.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
