All The Things Bama Fans Do During An Away Game

Alabama fans don't just sit around while the Tide rolls to another state for the weekend.

The greatest part of any week in Alabama during football season is easily the weekend. After you leave work or your last class on Friday, and until kickoff on Saturday, the world is your pregame. Everyone and everything is focused on getting hyped up for the game.

So, what exactly do you do when the game isn’t at Bryant-Denny?

Go to the game anyways.

If the Tide is playing, you might as well go if you can. You’re only a student for a handful of years, might as well enjoy the student section (and the reduced prices). Fill a car, split the gas and hotel between you and some friends. Even if you don’t have a ticket, experiencing tailgates at another school is always a fun time. Show off your best crimson threads while you’re at it.

Sit in a corner and cry because you can’t cheer on the tide in person.

We've all been there.

Go to a bar/fraternity to watch.

You may be surrounded by strangers, but at the same time you all just love watching a different school realize that they didn’t want Bama after all. It’s essentially a smaller scale version of being in the stadium, depending on where you go. On the bright side, you don’t have to smuggle anything in or bring a ridiculous looking clear bag (unless you’re one of those people who prefer either of those things).

Host or attend a watch party.

Even though Tuscaloosa may appear as if everyone followed the football team out of the state, there are almost always a few people who have stayed behind for whatever reason. Go ahead and get the squad together, get some food, and find a TV. Maybe even remake this pic with Saban and the boys after the game.

Get out of town.

Tuscaloosa is a boring place. Get out. Go somewhere fun (but still watch the game of course, just do it somewhere interesting while you have the chance).

"But what if I don't want to watch the game?"

Do you even go here?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
