And why Jesus tips the scale.

The Balance Between Science And Jesus

As a woman in science, I constantly hear other people say that it is either one way or the other, you believe in science or you believe in God and religion. You simply cannot believe in both, and a decision has to be made. Luckily, the science department at my university is tasteful in what they choose to say about this topic, but even if they were not, I still would not have a doubt in my mind that God is real and what He tells us is true. If you are a Christian struggling to find the balance between what God tells you and what scientific theory tells you, I have a few things to say to you:

1. There is NOTHING science can do to prove or disprove the existence of God.

We can develop all of the hypotheses and theories we want about how the world was created, but until someone can create a time machine to actually go back and see the creation of the world, these things will never be fact.

2. You can believe a scientific theory AND believe that God has something to do with it.

When I look at how expansive and complex not only our world but the entire universe is, it puts me in awe of how powerful our creator is. I am not going to go all eyeball vs. clock tower on you here, but think about this. Does it make sense that all of this would be created in a big bang explosion from nothing when science itself says that you cannot create matter? Even if the big bang were how the universe came to be, there had to be something or someone that has always been in existence. Something that was not created but simply has always been.

3. Miracles.

Miracles happen every day and are things that cannot be explained by science or medical professionals. People are inexplicably cured of diseases that should have killed them, survived when they should have died, or come back to life by themselves. One of my favorite things to do is read about these "medical phenomenon" and just smile because I know exactly what happened.

4. It is called faith for a reason.

Like I said before, there is nothing that science can do to prove the existence of God. This is where our faith comes into play. Having faith is believing in something that you cannot see with your own eyes. Even if we cannot see God, He shows Himself to us every day. Believe and have faith in what He has done and what He can do.

I hope that this insight into how I balance science and God in my life has been helpful to you and that you are able to see this situation in a new light now. Just continue to look for God in the every day occurrences of life and you WILL see Him. Have a blessed day!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
