What did you wanted to be when you were little? Did you wanted to be a doctor? Designer? Artist? Stay-at-home Mom? Better yet, a mermaid or pirate? Flash forward today: Do you wish you can go back to when you were just five years old without a single care in the world and not deal with the typical adulting stuff?
These questions and thoughts are commonly popped up throughout childhood and the thirteen, seventeen, or however long it takes these days of schooling. You might have had certain plans in the past that have been set in stone then but didn't realize that those plans were subject to change and an array of ups-and-downs and transitional periods were to be experienced in the process. In the words of Phoebe Buffay from Friends, life has its "floopy" moments.
Throughout the mandatory thirteen years of schooling, it's been taught that school is important and necessary in order to achieve a good life. In addition, applying and selecting an important college (whether your or your parents choice), during your junior and senior year, serves as the door opener to achieving your dreams or whichever goals you may have had. It's one of the common books of then and today: Go to school, go to college, get a degree, get a job, get married- the whole shabang. However, what school doesn't teach you is that in order to achieve your dreams, goals, or whatever you want to do in life, money is involved.
These days, everything is related towards money. From providing a roof on top of your head, the clothes on your back, the food and drink you consume, your mental health and sanity, and achieving your goals and dreams, money serves as the backbone of survival.
In this money-driven society, we are faced with that desperation, frustration, and struggle when it comes to making that simple dollar-that simple 3x6 rectangular green piece of paper- in order to live. Sometimes we get so worked up and frustrated of not making that one single dollar in our paychecks or not having enough money deposited into our bank accounts that we end up utilizing aides to help escape, and decrease, from our stress towards the financial obligations we have (drinking, smoking weed, hallucinogens, running, surfing, ecstasy, the shabang as I call it) which, at times, ends up increasing our stress later on, sometimes even more than it already is. Basically, money is a bitch, end of story.
Money buys happiness and the "good life." It does but so does sanity and balance. Nobody, not even school and money, teaches the art of maintaining sanity and balance in one's self. We need balance in order to feel content (if possible), successful (whatever that may be), and sane (whichever that is). Hard work and having smarts are two of the best traits anybody can have. In addition to achieving balance and sanity in life. Screw money being the key to everlasting life, balance and sanity is where it's at.
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect" -Romans 12:2
