These 5 recipes I will definitely try to recreate this season. During breaks, I always find myself in the kitchen baking a treat for me and my family. I think they will enjoy having something new and it is always fun to try new recipes, expand your baking horizon. I hope you enjoy these recipes and have a great holiday!

1. White Chocolate Peppermint Cupcakes

White chocolate and peppermint both scream winter to me. You will probably see a lot of mint recipes on here because that I find that when I see mint hot chocolate or anything with mint, it means the holidays are right around the corner. I always turn to either Sallys Baking Addiction or Pinterest to find my newest recipes and here we have one from Sallys. Here is the recipe!

2. Bûche de Noël with Ganache

It’s basically a giant Ho-ho! If you sprinkle some snow on top it looks just like snow. The design of this cake is supposed to look like a Yule Log which, according to “why Christmas?” was burned and used as warmth during the holidays. Chocolate is a nice way to warm your stomach during the winter. You can find the recipe here!

3. Skinny Berry Trifle

This looks like a refreshing snack to have mid day or even a nice light dessert to have after dinner. This recipe could be used at any time and it is perfect if you do not have any baking skills. My family continuously asks me to make healthier desserts, maybe this winter I will try this out. I find "healthy" desserts are not always the sweetest but this has cake and berries which are sweet, I might try this out!

4. Candy Cane Chocolate Swirl Fudge

I don’t know about you, but candy canes scream winter and holidays to me. My family always added candy canes to everything; hot chocolate, the Christmas tree, different desserts so this is a great way to add them into a sweet treat that I haven’t had since I was younger. The last time I remember making fudge was with my neighbors at my lake house in the middle of August years ago. This will be a great way for me to reconnect with my childhood. Here is how to make this fudge!

5. Gingerbread Cake with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting

I think gingerbread screams winter. Every time I smell ginger I think of gingersnaps that my mom would keep in the pantry during the holidays and all of the gingerbread houses I tried to make then watching them fall down. Luckily this does not have to be built as if it was a house and it looks beautiful. The almost naked cake look looks so nice on this cake. The outside of the cake looks like a snowy winter day. I will definitely be trying to recreate this cake this winter. You cant bake a cake without the recipe!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
