Coming off a disappointing loss in the Big Ten Championship, the Wisconsin Badgers will face the Miami Hurricanes in the 2017 Orange Bowl on December 30th. The game itself will be played in Miami (interesting) and it will be the final game for the Badgers (12-1) who are looking to finish the season on a strong note after their only loss of the season to date.
In the B1G Championship, the Badgers looked mortal seemingly for the first time all season. Freshman Phenom Jonathan Taylor Wasn't able to muster much on the ground, and quarterback Alex Hornibrook turned in a less than stellar day passing the ball. It seems the only thing that kept the Badgers afloat in the game was the defense, which has been the team's saving grace all year long. Andrew Van Ginkel forced two turnovers, including an interception return for a touchdown, along with a forced fumble recovery.
Heading into to the Orange Bowl, the Badgers will not only be playing to put respect in their name but also the Big Ten's name after it was snubbed from the college football playoff. The challenge will be tough, though. The Miami Hurricanes boast one of the nation's top offenses, and they will also bring some anger after a disappointing loss to playoff number one seed Clemson.
Should the Badgers want to finish the season on a high note, the defense will once again have to carry the load, and the Badgers will require production from Alex Hornibrook and Jonathan Taylor. With a winning performance, the Badgers will be in prime position to make the world believe again next fall.
