Last Wednesday, March 15, indie pop band Bad Suns played a sold-out show at The Loft in Atlanta. The venue is small and modest, so when I arrived and saw a line of fans wrapped around the building in the bitter cold I knew I would be in for a wild night. It turned out that the venue was so small it didn't have a photo pit, so I got to be in the crowd surrounded by energetic people while having my camera equipment. It was truly the best of both worlds.

From Indian Lakes opened the show with tracks from their fourth album, Everything Feels Better Now, which came out a few months ago.

The band has been forming a more unique sound with each album they produce. Their set was full of mesmerizing lyrics, synthesizers, and ambient sounds that can't be compared to any other artist's style.

Before they took the stage, Bad Suns hyped up the crowd with suspenseful humming music that reminded me of small waves. It lasted from the time From Indian Lakes left the stage until the lights went down for the main show.

The tour celebrated Bad Suns' newest album, Disappear Here, and began with the title track. This kicked off the enthusiasm of the crowd that lasted the entire night. While they mostly played songs from the latest album, they made sure not to forget all the hits from their first album, Language & Perspective because half of the fans at the show, including myself, have been listening to Bad Suns since the first album was released.

Although both albums have a similar sound, the tracks from Disappear Here lyrically stand out more, such as Even In My Dreams I Can't Win, Patience, and Off She Goes.

The band's stage presence was consistently animated. Lead singer Christo Bowman never stayed still and moved around the stage during nearly every song. During my favorite song from Language & Perspective, Sleep Paralysis, Bowman began holding the hands of multiple fans on the lyric "Hold my hand, whoever you are," and then he made his way off the stage and on top of the crowd while holding onto a bar on the ceiling.

Most pop bands I've seen only have one type of person in the crowd - teenage girls. There is certainly nothing wrong with that, but at most shows they are the only ones who really seem happy to be there. Sometimes I'll see boyfriends or parents who have been dragged along, but they don't have the same sparkle of excitement in their eyes. This show was different. Every person there, despite their age and gender, was singing and dancing to every song. It's tough to be able to capture the hearts of fans across every gender and age group, and Bad Suns have accomplished that.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
