By the headline, you are probably thinking, "Is that dude going to really talk about his backpack?"
Yes, yes I am. Because underneath all the material and stitching of the backpack, lies some amazing stories.
1. It was originally my older sister's backpack
My older sister attended Berea College from 2008 to 2012 to get her Bachelor's of Arts degree in math and worked as a TA at Berea College.
Around her freshman year, she met her future husband at an ice cream social and became friends with him. My sister packed her backpack so full that it was really heavy to lift. She graduated Berea College in 2012, and I graduated high school in 2013.
In my senior year of high school, I did not have a backpack for college. So, my sister gave me hers to use for college.
A backpack that has survived ten years and almost through two college students' academic careers? Sign me up for one because that's a well-built backpack right there.
2. My backpack has been to four states
I have lived in Kentucky my whole life and in November 2017, I went to an airport to go to a fraternity conference in Denton, Texas. The airport was in Cincinnati, Ohio.
I took my backpack as a carry on bag for some of my stuff. Also, I went across the Kentucky-Indiana border to Madison, Indiana one day with a friend and my backpack was in my vehicle.
3. My backpack can seriously hurt you
I was heading home one night from class and I fell flat on my face and my backpack flew up and hit me in the head. When my backpack hit me, it caused my glasses to be pressed hard into my nose, making me bleed as a result.
I pack it so much sometimes and it can get so heavy. With all my books and my laptop in there, it can be really heavy. It can sure as heck knock out a burglar if they try to steal my stuff.
4. It arguably has a love charm on it
As I said, my backpack was originally my sister's backpack and in college, she met her husband and they are now happily married for five years now with two little girls.
I have also met Allie and I am convinced that the cosmic karma from my sister has rubbed off on my backpack and given to me.
5. My backpack is a portable medicine kit, was a former lunch box, a suitcase, and a shopping bag
In my backpack right now, I have ibuprofen and my inhaler (wheezy kid with Asthma here).
When I go home, I sometimes pack my clothes in my backpack. The straps make it so easier to carry.
When I went to JCTC, I put sandwiches in my backpack for lunch and they would stay relatively fresh while in my backpack. Now, whenever I go to a campus grocery store (which is rarely) I usually try to take it with me to put my groceries in.
My backpack is a blue, plaid High Sierra backpack, but to me, it is much more than the label says. I love this backpack.
