Monday, April 30th and Tuesday, May 1st kicked off a new season for gamers in two of the most popular games out right now. Overwatch season ten, and Fortnite season four! Of course, this brings a load of new content, and new things for us to enjoy, which I'm about to expand upon right now for you all. Feel special.
First off, Overwatch doesn't really bring all that new content with its new competitive season, but they are finally unlocking the new hero Brigitte in competitive play. A lot of players will be looking to play as her this season, so I'm going to get you up to speed with everything about this hero and everything you can do while playing against or with her to optimize your chances of winning. Remember, we grindin' till we diamond. Then we grind some more.
Brigitte counters a lot of flankers and dive comp type characters. Don't even think of trying to play Tracer against her, she can hit a well timed combo (smack you with her flail, shield bash, then use her flail throw ability) and knock you out of the fight before you will even have a chance to recall. I also recommend you avoid fighting her with Genji. You can't deflect her flail, and at close range she will absolutely decimate you. She doesn't just counter the dive DPS though, she counters Winston too. With how she heals herself and her team with each flail strike, Winston's main attack struggles to even damage her. She can also shield bash and stun you to prevent you from leaping out and making your mistake. So how do you go about taking a Brigitte down? Keeping your distance is a solid place to start. Any hero with range is a good idea against her. I would say her number one counter is Pharah though. Brigitte has little range and can't hit a high flying Pharah, plus her shield is small and does not defend against splash damage from the sides like Reinhardt's does.
She is easily swallowed up by explosives, so Pharah and Junkrat are good options to roll out in defense against her. Another counter, one that doesn't seem like it should counter her but does, is Doomfist. She struggles to avoid his damage, and a well-timed punch can send her into a wall and eliminate her. Playing with Brigitte is best when your team is a bunch of close-range brawlers. She fits right in with a Reinhardt.
Her healing is sort of like Lucio's, so keeping people close to you while fighting should be your main objective. It's hard to say whether she is a front line or a back line hero yet though, so your positioning with her should be situational until we see more of her in Comp play. Good luck out there this season boys and girls, hope you all hit your goals.
Now then, Fortnite! The game that has taken the nation, and world, by storm these past months. Season 4 is rolled out, with a heroes and villains theme, so it's only appropriate I address it along with Overwatch. They did throw us a curve ball, as Tilted Towers was not hit by a meteor-like everyone thought was going to happen, but Dusty Depot was instead (now known as Dusty Divots). Turning it into a giant crater in the map, with a militaristic base set up to study the meteor that hit.
Across the crater, you can find little crystals that you can consume for a huge boost in speed, durability, and jumping ability. These crystals provide you a huge advantage over those who do not consume them. Another new location added, Risky Reels, is ripe with these crystals too. I actually like to land there a lot, but that could be because its the new place and I know a lot of people are dropping there and I love opening my games with a fight for survival.
There are two other locations that are more secret and feel like Easter eggs for this season. A superhero mansion and a supervillain base were added in. The hero mansion near Lonely Lodge, and the villain base near Snobby Shores. Both are good places to drop for duos and solo play, while Risky Reels and Dusty Divots are more suited to drop in with your squad at your back.
These were just two of my favorite games, and I can't wait until finals are over so I can play them to my hearts content! Hope this helps you all get some dubs this season in both games. Good luck and peace out y'all, until next time!
