Duo from Swedish House Mafia HIt the Mark on Radio-friendly Track Boasting Kid Ink’s On-point Lyricism
It's definitely a good idea. Some EDM-infused and techno-tinged R&B/hip-hop swagger. And that's exactly what Swedish DJ duo Axwell /\ Ingrosso have pulled off via their collab with American rapper Kid Ink. This is a new step from super-producers since stepping out on their own from Swedish House Mafia...well even different from Swedish House Mafia for that matter.
Now affiliated with iconic hip-hop label Def Jam, Axwell /\ Ingrosso have been steadily building an impressive portfolio of strong singles since their start. Though somewhat on the progressive side, they still have reached mainstream attention. On “I Love You," the guys are clearly aiming for American top 40 radio with its slick commercial EDM-infused pop soul sound even incorporating the majestic orchestral strings. We can skip over The Verve sampling and talk about vocals. Kid Ink delivers on-point lyrics addressing complexities of modern romance by spitting out biting lyrics like “I was tryna save us but you got me looking like the villain...I had a couple mixed drinks...now I got a couple mixed feelings. Crooning “I love you, even though I don't like you right now," songstress Madison Love delivers sharp, lovelorn, radio-ready vocals for the chorus that nicely complements Kid Ink’s lyricism flowing in rhythm to the bobbing melodic EDM beats of Axwell /\ Ingrosso.
Top 40 and EDM continue to grow their remarkable courtship as evidenced on this latest pairing of a dance music act with a pop artist. And why not. building bridges in this regard not only makes it good for them...but us too.
