Although it seems hard to believe, the semester is somehow already almost half-way over, which means the dreaded mid-semester point will soon be upon us. One minute it's the first day of the semester and we are all enjoying syllabus week, then it seems like we close our eyes for just a moment and it's already October. I don't know how it happened either.

However, with this sad truth unfortunately unfolding, all the mid-semester student traditions will soon be underway, such as crying, screaming, and of course, midterms. With all these stresses hitting us at once, we need a way to relax and avoid hitting the dreaded mid-semester breaking point.

Many poor students have suffered at the hands of the mid-semester breaking point, as it slowly infests their souls and makes them unable to function to their normal capabilities. Hitting the breaking point can result in anything from screaming to having a mental breakdown to standing up against a wall in the corner of the library and nodding your head back and forth as you slowly come to the crippling realization that you are thoroughly unprepared for tomorrow's midterm exam. It is a horrible thing to go through, but it happens.

If you feel the mid-semester breaking point approaching, try to relax and calm your mind. Do some yoga, maybe try meditation or something else of the sort that you believe will calm your mind and settle your soul. Maybe go observe a group of monks as they meditate and ask them if they will teach you their ways of achieving enlightenment and soothing the soul. You shouldn't have to officially become a monk in order to learn their methods. If you find monks that tell you that you must join them officially in order to learn their ways, then you might want to go find a more open-minded group of monks.

If learning the ways of the enlightened is not for you, then maybe try simply studying for your exams so that you can stay on top of things, pass your classes, and ensure that your life is on the path that you want it to be. This is of course not an option for many of us lazier students, but a select few may actually find studying and preparing beforehand to be useful tactics when it comes to the midterm season.

Or, you can embrace your emotions, screaming and crying voluntarily, before you hit your breaking point and scream and cry for other reasons. If you take control of your emotions before you let them take control of you, then you will be in charge. You will still be screaming loudly, but you'll be doing it because you want to do it, not because you just failed your test.

The middle of the semester is upon us, but fortunately, there are ways to avoid hitting your ultimate breaking point. Many students have fallen prey to this evil force during this awful time of the year, but you are smarter than them, so hopefully, you can maintain your sanity, never quite reaching the point of no return.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
