Avocado toast is definitely one of the best tasting and versatile recipes currently trending! There are so many ways to dress up your avocado toast, whether that be for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack. Not only does it taste absolutely delectable, it is also super healthy and easy to make.
Before I get into my avocado toast recipes, can we please talk about how great avocados are? They are literally the best food for everything. They can be mashed into guacamole, sliced onto veggie burgers, and, of course, spread on toast. They are super creamy, high in healthy fats, and are just plain beautiful. They definitely make my top five fruit list (yes, avocados are fruits ), even though they may not quite make everyone's top five fruit list.
I've been experimenting for the last week with different twists on my basic avocado toast dish. So, hopefully you enjoy them as much as I have! Without further ado, here are my top three favorite avocado toast recipes. But remember, the key to a perfect avocado toast meal is a ripe avocado.
1. Black Bean Avocado Toast:
Ingredients: Black beans, avocado, Ezekiel Bread, nutritional yeast (optional), lime juice
2. Traditional Avocado Toast:
Ingredients: Avocado, Ezekiel Bread, nutritional yeast (optional)
3. Avocado Toast Pizza
Ingredients: Avocado, Ezekiel Bread, nutritional yeast (optional--use sparingly on top of this one), lime juice, onion, garlic powder (or fresh garlic)
I highly recommend using Ezekiel Bread for your toast. It is completely vegan, super healthy, and absolutely delicious. It is made with sprouted grains, no added sugar, and no preservatives. It can be found in the freezer section at your local grocery store and comes in many varieties, including original, low sodium, sesame, and cinnamon raisin. There is also a gluten-free version offered in some stores for those with a gluten intolerance or celiac disease.
Pro tip: It is best to mash the avocado up and add nutritional yeast to taste. Nutritional yeast will give your mixture a cheesy flavor, and most nutritional yeast is fortified with B-vitamins and other nutrients. It is also an excellent source of fiber and protein!
