Avita Vendetta is a new and upcoming band in the underground metal scene from California. This week I recently got the chance to hear a song from the new EP called “Ignorance is Bliss.” At the first listen I was immediately impressed with what I heard from the get-go.

When listening to this song, I get really big energetic vibes that I would get if I listened to bands like Adestria, Born of Osiris and even some older treasures like Trust Company. The instrumental makeup of this song resembles these bands in terms of talent and the energy exerted from this track I listened to. The young and vibrant non-clean vocals kind of lend themselves to a more youthful version of hard hitting vocalist Austin Carlile of Mice and Men. To me, this makes for a pretty impressive combination to say the least, as it shows they really do their homework when it comes to trying to produce a sound worthy of listening to.

For an EP nonetheless, the production values are not half bad either. Shawn Leong spoke briefly on his influences when it comes to writing the music with the band,. “Influence wise, band wise I’d say Slip Knot, Asking Alexandria, Bring Me The Horizon, The Plot in You, Sylar and Bad Omens. Even artists like G Eazy, Future, Migos and Caskey tend to be big influences on me as well. I don’t like to genre bound our music since each track is a completely different and unique sound.”

Though this was only one song off the new EP I have gotten to listen to, it still leaves me pretty excited to see hear what the rest of the EP has in store. Even hearing some of these unique influences makes me question what kinds of new things this EP will bring to the table.

Knowing Shawn Leong as a friend for quite some time, he has been waiting for a long time to get a band together and at least make some of his dreams become a reality. From what I heard on this track, rock music lovers will like this band very much and will be very impressed with the effort that he, as well as the other band members, put into producing this record.

“We still haven’t set a release date for the EP, but we plan to officially debut on Facebook and YouTube with a music video. We just started an Instagram and put a song on the Decimator Records SoundCloud to connect with the community for us and Decimator. We are still the new kids on the block to say the least and we got to make some friends, haha”.

If you are into any of these bands, be on the lookout for Avita Vendetta on Instagram for more exciting and upcoming news on the EP. You can listen to “Ignorance is Bliss” on the Decimator SoundCloud. Happy Listening!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
