6 Reasons The Aviation World Is The Best World
aviationacademy.com

Ahh..the aviation world. It is a world that if you are lucky to experience it provides you with a life full of memories. Between the people you meet along the way and the breathtaking places that you see while in the sky there is no doubt in my mind that the aviation world is the best world to be involved in. Living a lifestyle that revolves around the idea of the big metal bird in the sky is a childhood dream for most, I am happy to say that I myself am lucky enough to live in the world that my childhood brain wandered off to.

Are you not convinced enough yet that the aviation world really is the coolest? Well hold tight because I am about to make you Google “Flight schools near you” as soon as you read this.

1. What is a car?

I will admit I am pretty darn spoiled, but seriously what is a car when you can hop into a plane and go? When it comes to traveling long distances being a pilot, knowing a pilot, dating a pilot whatever it is comes in handy. You can make that dreaded six-hour drive to Key West, Florida into a beautiful one hour and fifteen minute flight instead. I mean what’s not to love about a shorter travel time?

2. The people you meet

You will meet very interesting people while wondering through the pilot society. The cool thing is about aviation is there is not really a primary stereotype, every pilot comes in all shapes, and sizes.

3. A pilot's passion for flying.

The best thing about a pilot is their passion for what they do. Flying an airplane is their “om” it is their escape from reality. Being a pilot was probably every pilot’s dream and now they are living their dream in an everyday reality. I love seeing the sparkling smile that comes across an aviation enthusiast, it brings warmth to my heart.

4. The cool FLY INS and events.

Sadly, I have yet to make it to Sun N Fun or Oshkosh, but believe me they are on my list to visit. I have heard some of the coolest stories from aviators who have attended these events. The fact that these events are held once a year to bring all aviators together is such an exhilarating feeling and so awesome that every year the events are getting bigger and bigger. I can't wait to go and experience it for myself one day.

5. We are all in this together!

Yes I just referenced High School Musical (sorry that just showed my age of youth). It is true though I love to see pilots helping other pilots. Whether it is a CFI and student relationship, Student and student, or just a fellow aviator on the radio. Everyone helps each other out, like one big happy family spread across the globe.

6. National Aviation Day

Yes, we have a national holiday that comes once a year on August 19. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt declared the date and it also honors Orville Wright's birthday. The Wright Brothers were the brothers who created the first flying airplane and aircraft controls that allowed them to steer the plane.

There are many more reasons why the aviation world is the best lifestyle; these were just my top six reasons. I hope that I have convinced you to agree with me that aviation is pretty cool. It has changed my life and has provided me with many opportunities that I didn’t even know existed. Not only do we have pilots involved in the aviation world but we also have the hard working mechanics, the air traffic controllers, the FAA, dispatchers, and the business owners of flight schools and airlines that make the life of aviation such a wonderful life to live in.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
