AVENGERS:
INFINITY WAR
10 years, 18 movies, and over $10 billion in worldwide gross later, we have finally reached the point we have striven for. “Infinity War”, when our heroes must stop The Mad Titan from wiping out half the universe. Where “The Avengers” introduced us to Thanos as the subject of an end credits scene, “Infinity War” finally delivers the best Marvel villain to date!
You cannot have a hero without a villain to match, Marvel finally gives us Thanos, who has been eyeing Earth since the first Avengers. They changed him up a little from the comics - in them, he is trying to woo or impress the personification of Death, who is a woman in the Marvel comics. It's a welcome change, but man...I can't say any more without giving anything away.
Because we’re still within the first few weeks of release, this review will be spoiler free. I will only be including details that are seen in the trailers, and if you were staying away from the trailers before the movie, chances are you’ve already seen it. Now let’s get going!
Speechless. That was the reaction of many people leaving the theater, including my girlfriend and row of fellow Marvel enthusiasts. The credits were rolling and we were not sure what just happened before our very eyes. Of course, with any Marvel movie, the theories went flying out of our mouths faster than Warner Bros. Executives can ruin a franchise.
The graphical effects are great for the most part. There are several places where it is very noticeable, like it almost as if the screams out “SEE THIS CGI HERE!?! IT'S AWESOME!!!!!” Thanos and his minions look pretty great! There are several shots where I honestly believed that he was actually there filming the movie!
The music is hands down the best part after the story/plot of the movie. There are three specific points where they play “The Avengers" theme and one where it’s mind-blowingly amazing. Music heightens a movie up to where it enhances the experience. Try to think of your favorite movie, now take the music out, how does it hold up?
There are moments in this movie for the average moviegoer and for those who love the MCU, and they'll be talking about those moments for years, even decades to come. Marvel makes the ultimate mashup of all the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and delivers with flying colors. It more than lives up to the hype created by the studio and fans alike, and because of that, I cannot wait for the next few movies, “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” “Captain Marvel” coming next March, and “Avengers 4.” That will be coming next May....get excited everyone.
