The time has arrived again. August, in my opinion, is the month of farewells. Goodbye to friends leaving to out-of-state colleges, warm weather, freedom and late mornings. Along with the sad things you have to let go, you are also now aware that school is starting very soon. All those who procrastinated on summer assignments are now in a rush to finish, YouTube haul fanatics have already started planning their outfits, makeup and stationary, and for those dorming, students have begun to pack for their upcoming semesters. This month is the transition of relaxed days of late mornings and unlimited free time to stressful weeks of gruesome tests and overlapping assignments.
1. Having last hang-outs with friends.
After stressful semesters, high school friends are now close to one another and free to meet. Although you made many friends in college, you still yearn for the friends you aren't able to meet so often. As the new semester approaches, you get sad that it'll be months before seeing each other again, but you also realize that a new semester means another couple of months with college friends with whom you learn to balance work and play with.
2. Stationary Shopping.
There is just something about buying pretty school supplies that motivates you more to study. Having a new pencil case with brand new pens and highlighters give you a refreshing feeling of starting anew. Taking notes with a variety of colors makes it easier to show examples and separate topics.
3. Back-to-School Fashion and Make-up.
Many people watch YouTube hauls and tutorials. Around this time, the theme of many of these videos are back-to-school ideas. From outfits to make-up to hair, there is nothing that these videos don't cover. From these videos, many try a new style and look forward to presenting these looks during the new semester.
4. Buying Textbooks.
The price of your textbooks always come out to be a terrifying price. You either pay full price for a book only a school has or find cheaper prices online. You quickly try to sell books on a Facebook group page and look for free "pdf" versions of the book.
5. Health Waivers, Parking Permits, and Other Things You Forgot To Do.
When you suddenly receive an e-mail about health insurance waivers and parking permits or realize that you've forgotten to do them. So much regret comes with the $8000 mandatory school health insurance. Along with these things, you might have also forgotten about summer assignments or searching for a fall internship.
