Phew. First two games at the brand new Mercedes-Benz Stadium down, who knows how many left to go.
This team is absolutely amazing, I can't imagine a better fit team for Atlanta than Atlanta United to make the soccer world thrive in our area. The environment at these games is absolutely amazing and the fan interaction is incredible. I, for one, am not a very social person when it comes to being around people I'm not familiar with but Atlanta United games are filled with so much passion and energy that you forget all about the strangers around you. It's incredible to see the unification of people created by these games, the crowd is almost like a huge family, well, except for fans of the other team. They are a huge no-no.
I've never liked watching soccer on television before, which is ironic considering I'm a soccer player, but this is a new world of it's own. It's no surprise that we won 3-0 against FC Dallas but gosh, we crushed New England Revolution by 7-0 for September 13th's game. With some pretty amazing strikers, such as Tito (Villalba), Kanga (Martinez), defensive players such as Garza, and midfielders like Asad, Carmona, and my personal favorite, Miguel Almiron, this team is virtually unstoppable. Almost every game I've seen was a very forward game, possession of the ball was mainly in our favor and goal differential...well let's just say that we are pretty highly ranked for a team who has played 3-4 games less than the others.
Sitting? Psh, never gonna happen, it's way too exciting to do anything but stand and cheer on your team the whole way. Plus, if you're like me and have Mercedes-Benz Club Level Access, the best "seats" are the ones on field level, where you actually get to stand on the turf! I may or may not have been fangirling all of the game while taking these photos. My favorite part of the club: you can see their sweat! You can even order food from the Atlanta United App on your phone! But in reality, if you try to sit during this, you're missing out on the experience. Plus, who wants to be sitting down when you have the whole home section helping cheer on your team? Service at the stadium is superb, as well as air conditioning. That'll keep from some rough sweaty games during the summer, and I don't mean the players when I say that. Overall, the atmosphere is astounding, the team is great, and you can kick back, get to screaming at the refs, and cheering on the best major league soccer team in Atlanta, if you're into that sort of thing. Hope to see you at a game soon!
