12 Reasons You Should Always Have An Athletic Best Friend, Even If You Don't Like Sports

As a person who is hardcore into sports and fitness, I personally think you should always have a sporty best friend, just because. For some of you who are not into sports, I suppose you'd like some practical reasons as to why you should always have a sporty best friend, wouldn't you? You've come to the right place then! Today, I'm going to tell you twelve reasons you should definitely have a sporty best friend.

1. They need your support.

You didn't think my first tip would be something like that, did you? Here's the thing though, athletes need people to support them who aren't always on the court/field/etc with them. They need someone in the crowd to cheer them on. Just like they're going to be willing to support you, they need support outside of the sport world as well.

2. They'll help you stay in shape.

Let's be real, everyone wants to at least be slightly fit, am I right? Well by befriending a sporty friend, it's like you have a personal trainer anytime you want! No worries, they won't kill you. Maybe.

3. You can learn rules of sports you didn't already know.

Or maybe just learn about sports in general. Either way, you will learn something new. I'm an athlete who has athletic friends, and to this day I still learn something new about sports I thought I knew everything about.

4. They know what it's like to be a part of a team.

I know, you're sitting there saying "well duh they know what it's like", but what I'm trying to tell you is they won't leave. Most athletes have their teammates back no matter what, which then bleeds to their friends. They know how to work together, and support people. Who wouldn't want that as a friend?

5. You can make new friends.

You'll more than likely go to a few of their games or meets, therefore, you meet new people. BAM! New friends automatically just by showing up.

6. You can travel.

Let's be real, not all sporting events are held at home, soooo you get to travel when you go watch them sometimes! You can't tell me that doesn't sound fun.

7. They'll fight to the very end for you.

If anyone dares to try and hurt you, they will kill them. Athletes have a fighter heart, and no one hurts the ones they love.

8. They will do anything competitive with you.

Competition is any athletes middle name. If you're into anything with the slightest amount of competition, they will almost always be game. I guarantee it the first time.

9. They'll love friend massage days.

Lol let's be honest, athletes bodies hurt. I promise if you recommend a best friend massage/spa day, they will be all on board for that. It's a great bonding opportunity, too!

10. They'll be completely ok with staying home on Friday nights.

If you're a homebody, an athletic best friend is fantastic. Lots of sports have Thursday night games, meaning, the athletes are exhausted on Friday. They're all for staying home on Fridays, and NOT having to associate with the public. Especially if they lost.

11. They're easy to shop for.

Seriously, for birthdays and Christmas, just buy them something Nike or Adidas related. They'll love it.

12. They're house will be stocked with healthy food, causing you to eat better.

As much as you hate hearing this, you know you love it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
