Conducting a survey throughout the realm of Facebook, I was able to gain some insight into what many believe. I sent this out to neutral Facebook groups and through my own page. The majority of those participants are under the age of 25, and females outnumbered men almost 2 and a half to 1. Here are the results:
1. How Do You Feel About Guns?
To clarify, "No banning on any guns, Automatic Rifles Need to be banned, Semiautomatic Rifles Need to be banned too, Keep only shotguns for hunting with strict background checks, Get rid of all guns except military, I don't agree with any of these positions" were the options.
2. How Do You Feel About Transgenderism?
13.04% of the participants felt like trasngenderism should be celebrated. About 30% felt like it's wrong and about the same amount found it really not mattering either way, being neutral.
3. If safe spaces promote encouragement and security, which speakers do you feel bring hate speech?
Over 40% said that safe spaces help foster growth and safety, so the fact many people did not select none here is far from shocking (additional about 24% said safe spaces are sometimes good). What is surprising, is that some said they found benefit in shielding others from Al Sharpton and Hillary Clinton. The majority response say safe spaces are bad, but here they contradict themselves to say holding back these speakers is a good thing. A high amount of people believe keeping away controversial speakers is a good thing even when many have testified that free speech is a good, unhindered American right.
Last, but not least, I asked the participants about the current president. I was able to get Donald Trump's approval rating as president from those represented by the survey. 23.19% said they approve of the job he's doing so far. 47.83% said they disapprove. The rest said they were neutral or unsure.
Thanks to survey monkey for supplying our template so we could gather information.
