As the sun sets on my freshmen year at Carnegie Mellon, I thought that the perfect way to reflect on my past year was to compile my favorite sunset pictures from my dorm room. Even though each photo is taken from the same location of the same landscape at approximately the same time, each one is so different and vibrant in its own way.
The very reason that I love these set of photos is that as I look through each one, rather than a "take-a-way" from my freshman year at college, a collection of memories come up! One was taken when I got back to my dorm after my first Pittsburgh thunderstorm, only to find that my window had been leaking the whole time. Another was taken after the first snowflakes of the season swayed to the ground. I was able to capture the one day, in what seems to be the entire school year, that there was not a single cloud in the sky!
And, my favorite aspect of this photo-spread is that unlike many other articles, I am not teaching the reader what I learned from my Freshman year or how to get involved with photography, but rather sharing my pictures and only a glimpse of my internal reflection, to ignite one in the minds of the viewers.
