20 Article Ideas To Use In 2020 When Writer's Block Hits

Let me start by saying I absolutely love writing for Odyssey. It's the first time I've ever had the opportunity to write down my thoughts for people to actually read. Creating weekly content has not only helped my writing skills, but has also solidified my determination to turn writing into a career.

That being said, life sometimes gets in the way of everything I want to accomplish. Don't get me wrong, I love writing but it's hard. Sometimes I'll whip out an article in 30 minutes, ages before the deadline, and other times I'll be scrambling a half hour before the deadline to turn something in.

One of my goals in 2020 is to be better at organizing and managing my time, and that includes the articles I write once a week. So consider this a brain dump for me and you on the days that no one has an idea for an article.

1. A Pop Culture Article

Write about the latest album that's dropped or your new favorite show to binge on Netflix!

2. Tell A Story About Yourself

If you haven't already, introduce yourself to your readers!

3. "Best Of..." Article

This can be anything! Best moment of your year, best show on Netflix, best hot chocolate recipe...you get the idea.

4. A Letter To Your Younger Self

What's something you wish you knew when you were little? Any advice to give?

5. A Letter To Your Older Self

See what I did there?

6. College Study Tips

A foolproof idea because everyone everywhere will always need study tips.

7. An Interview With Someone

Find a friend, family member, or anyone who inspires you!

8. Share Your Favorite DIY Project or Recipe

I like this idea because I aspire to be a mommy blogger one day

9. The Best Things To Watch On Netflix In 2020

If Season 2 of "YOU" is not on that list, it's wrong.

10. Why You Write For Odyssey

Take the chance to write about why you're even writing in the first place!

11. An Opinion Piece On A Political Event

This can be a bit controversial, but if you have a strong opinion on something going on in today's world, share it.

12.  Write About A Cause Or Organization That Means A Lot To You

Share your passions with your readers!

13. Your Favorite Inspirational Quotes

14. A Book Recommendation Or Review

Much like the pop culture and Netflix articles, this is a great way to keep up with what's trending in entertainment.

15. Your Opinion On A Major Event At Your University

Writing about your university is a great way to get involved in local news if that's your area of interest!

16. A Letter To A Best Friend

If you can't already tell, letters are always a good idea.

17. What You Love About Your Major

Why is your major right for you? Or, why should everyone drop what they're doing and switch majors now?

18. Dorm Life Tips

Just like the study tips, everyone needs a little help sometimes surviving dorm life.

19. What You Wish You Knew Before You Did...

Take the opportunity to talk about a lesson you learned the hard way.

20. A Listicle With Article Ideas

When in doubt...

Hopefully these will be helpful in the future! And however frustrated I might get with writer's block in 2020, I will never stop writing,

Happy New Year, and Happy Writing!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
