Independent
According to dictionary.com independent means the following;
independent
adjective
free from outside control; not depending on another's authority.
We are all familiar with independence, I mean we celebrate a whole day for our country’s independence.
Today, right now, do you really know what independence means?
Can you be independent?
Are you independent?
Why are or aren’t you independent?
I was raised to be incredibly independent. I know how to do my own laundry, cook, clean, and take care of myself. I can go out to the grocery store or mall all by myself. I can pick out my outfit for a night out on my own. I can do my own makeup and manage my own hair.
Personally, I do not know and have not come across many individuals in my eighteen years on this earth that are incredibly independent.
As teenagers we all count on each other. Majority of high schoolers, especially girls, are dependent on each other.
There are girls out there, I know a few, that cannot do ANYTHING on their own. They can’t go one day without asking for help or approval of their outfit, new shoes, or what color they should dye their hair.
Come on, become your own person. Develop some independence. Grow up.
I have always firmly believed, that the only person you can always truly count on, is yourself.
Everyone else is able to leave, to hurt you, to do whatever they please.
What are you losing by becoming independent?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
You gain so much though. You become more confident, grow as an individual, and can finally live your life for you.
