We Are Parents Now.... Oh Man!

Being a parent is awesome.

Being a parent is life changing, I mean you become responsible for a mini freaking you! Think about that, a mini you! It is weird but awesome at the same time, to look at that mini you and see aspects of yourself and your wife (or husband) in them? It is crazy! But with that aside you have unconditional love for your child, you would do anything possible for your child but I am going to share with you guys the awesome benefits of having a child and being a parent.

1. Cartoons! Man, I get to watch cartoons again without judgement and it’s fantastic! If I wanna watch Spongebob bam watching it, if I wanna watch Loud House (My wife and I’s favorite show by the way) kablame! Watching it! Now yes I am that adult who would watch cartoons before we had a child but it is just nice to push an excuse of “my kid was watching” that or “my kid wants to watch something”.

2. Showing your kid off. I love showing my little girl off to people, even random strangers in line at the grocery store, I don’t care. I am always like say” hi to everyone, okay now say bye”, or “watch this she smiles on command!” Just wait, once I teach her to fart on command it’s going to be super fantastic!

3. We can dress her. We can pick anything we want and dress her in it, totally going to enjoy this for as long as we can before she starts to rebel. But it’s fun to pick out outfits and dress her against her will haha.

4. Watching her grow. It’s weird and cool at the same time to witness her growing up, you can see her arms and legs are growing, you can that she is getting smarter and figuring things out. It’s fun to watch her get frustrated and squeal loudly about it, it’s weird but great to witness.

5. She’s easy to scare. Just like her mother my daughter is easily startled, sometimes she is so invested in what she is currently doing that when I walk up she freaks out, her whole little body just shakes because I snuck up on her. I for one am very excited for when she gets older and I can start scaring her on purpose.

These are just a handful of reason that making becoming a parent pretty awesome, I am excited to see her grow and am curious to see what her personality will be like. Will she be left handed or right handed, will she be tall or short, will she be angry or a peacekeeper with patience, so many questions unanswered for now but within time they will be answered and that’s the journey of parenthood. The journey of in some or most cases just honestly winging it and doing your best in raising a decent human being that will hopefully be someone that does great things in this world.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
