Let’s be honest. Our phones basically control our lives and I totally understand why. In a world full of busy schedules, it's easy to mess up. We need our phones to make our daily lives easier. Thankfully, there are a billion apps that we can download to do just that. While there is such a huge variety of apps to use, here are my top 10 apps that I personally use that I couldn’t live without.

1. Taskade

This app is perfect for making to-do lists and making lists for just about anything. Have a lot to remember and too much on your mind? Make a list on Taskade app and share it with friends or just keep it private. You can also color code your lists and put them into different categories. Cross out your bullets as you go!

2. UNUM

This is probably my all-time favorite app. If you’re like me and want to make sure your Instagram pics are aesthetically pleasing, you should definitely download this app. You can move around photos from your camera roll and try to plan how your Instagram will look like. You can also post pics onto Instagram directly from the app. UNUM also tells you what the best time to upload a picture is, your best hashtags and your top post. This app is so easy to use and definitely saves a lot of time.

3. Whatsapp

Pretty much everyone has this app now, but Whatsapp has a lot of perks. Remember the times when you had to go out to the store and buy a prepaid card to call your friends and family members living in foreign countries? Well Whatsapp makes it easier to call your friends and family with just a button away. You can even video call or message them and put up a status that stays for 24 hours. This app makes communication easy!

4. Google Drive

Google Drive is great for storing important documents for personal use, school or work. You can store documents, videos, pictures and presentations. Google Drive is easy to pull up no matter where you go so you don’t have to carry around a USB. It’s also easy to share your files with others. You can organize files in folders to make it easier to find what you’re looking for. Overall, this is a great app to organize and store important files to bring with you anywhere!

5. Waze

I’ve tried a lot of navigation apps but for some reason this always seemed to be my favorite. This app warns you of nearby accidents, police officers, traffic and so much more. You can save your parking spot when you go shopping and save your favorite locations. You can also sync your Spotify account and listen to all your favorite songs while driving!

6. Venmo

Venmo makes it easier to send money to your friends without the extra hassle that comes with sending money to their bank account directly. The process of sending money only take a few seconds once you sync your bank account. You can label the transaction and let your friend know what exactly the payment is for. Add friends and contacts and see what your friends are sending others. You can also review your past purchases and transactions and invite friends to join the app. Sending money is now a lot easier with Venmo!

7. Duolingo

If you’re trying to learn a new language, then this app is for you. Duolingo makes it fun and easy to learn new languages with games, lessons and practices. You won’t forget what you learned with the way the app is designed. Keep up with your daily streak to continue practicing everyday. Believe me, once you start using this app you won’t stop! It’s that addicting!

8. Houseparty

Ever wondered how you could facetime a group of people? Well Houseparty does just that! Do you remember ooVoo? Houseparty is pretty much similar to it. Instead of facetiming people individually, you can now video call all your friends together in one call. Houseparty definitely saves me a lot of time, especially when I’m making plans with friends.

9. Dropbox

This app is great to store old photos, videos or upload documents that are consuming storage on your phone. Dropbox saves pictures by date, so you know what month or year you took a particular picture. Dropbox is a secure app and even has a passcode if you want even more privacy. I’ve been using Dropbox for years and I love it.

10. Bible

There are many Bible apps out there and sometimes it can be hard to find which one would be right for you. I use the Bible app by Life Church and I can guarantee that you will not regret downloading this app. You can highlight, save notes or share scripture in a few seconds. You can even add friends and edit your profile. I use this app when preparing for Sunday School lessons. It’s so easy to find scripture and write an entire sermon/lesson in a few clicks.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
