My motivation for this poem came from a person who is important to me. She plays a huge role in my life, and I cannot thank her enough for all that she has done for me.
You built my foundation strong
to withstand all the weight that is to come along.
You never missed a class
to make sure I was going to pass.
You challenged me on every play
to ensure I was running the right way.
And you never missed a game
to see my name written in fame.
I appreciate you.
I appreciate everything that you did, are doing and will do.
Keep up your hard work
and continue to lead the herd.
Our time is short
like calling a timeout on the court.
This road has been rough
But you deserve endless love.
No time to look back at the past
because life is going by fast.
Just know you will always have a place in my heart
that could never be torn apart.
I love you, Mama.
If you have not caught on yet, this poem was written is about my mother. In the beginning, I talk about how she has shaped me into the man that I am today. She has prepared me to face the cruel world that we all live in. I also speak on how she has always been there to teach me to write from wrong, and how she guides me on the right path. The second half of this poem, I am speaking about how I feel about my mother.
Specifically, how life is not guaranteed and how we have to get through the rough times that we have been through. The message I am sending to my readers is that appreciate everything your mother/mother-figure does for you in your life. One day she may be there, and next thing you know she may be gone.
