Let's Take a Second to Appreciate Pinterest, Shall We?

Pinterest Renaissance in 2020???

Let's Take a Second to Appreciate Pinterest, Shall We?

The year was 2013. A young Emily (yep, we're going 3rd person) was ready to join the wild world of social media. Well, her first step was signing up for the one, the only...Pinterest. *Crickets* I know, Pinterest does not instill boatloads of excitement in people when you utter its name. However, I'm here to give some love to the app that started it all for me.

Nowadays, the youths are all about their twitchat and their instatok (honestly, they should rebrand to these names; they're funnier), and I think that most people only have a faint idea of what Pinterest brings to the table. It doesn't just have to be for middle-age, soccer moms named Karen (we all know a Karen, don't we? Even if their name isn't Karen, they spiritually categorize as one). Pinterest can be the app for allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.

You can find so many, drastically different pictures from all across the internet in one convenient place, and what's not to love about that? I found all the inane & eclectic humor of Twitter & Tumblr instead of venturing into those two apps when I was younger. Street Style that stretched all around the globe ended up in the safe hands of Pinterest, and I devoured every look as I grew up. Mouthwatering pictures of fun food creations are splattered across the app for all to envy over. There is really anything you could be looking for on this app.

Another app that has gotten really huge over the past few years is VSCO. The best & the brightest of social media fanatics are on that photo-editing app, and it has carried over to Pinterest too. All the aesthetically-pleasing posts full of vibrant prints & motivational quotes now also grace the screens of Pinterest users too, since things get shared there all the time. If you ever want a pretty background or quote to bring you good vibes, look no further, people.

Pinterest captures other people's lives just like other popular social media apps. You can be drooling over someone's dorm room design or silently praying that your wedding dress will someday look as good as the bride who shared hers. However, unlike other apps who just highlight life's greatest moments and creations, Pinterest often tells you how you can recreate them for yourself. There are so many imaginative people on the app that showcase their most innovative DIYs, whether it be in the kitchen, the classroom, or the workplace. It opens your eyes to a whole new world of ideas.

Now, I know what some people reading this might be thinking, and that is that Pinterest is just for girls. Get your mind out of the gender role gutter, fam! It's 2020 now, and there is absolutely no judgement for being a savvy social media savant. It doesn't have to be a feminine activity to look at your passions and interests on an app and pin them to their designated boards. I want everyone to appreciate this true gem of an app, no matter who you are.

I'll be completely honest, there have been long stretches of time where I forgot that Pinterest existed, while I got sucked deeper into the dark abyss of other social media sites. However, like a beacon calling me home, I always came back after a while to the first form of social media that I became fully obsessed with. It's a safe space, where you can show your style, taste, and wildest fantasies. Now, before I finish I'll leave you with one last thought- if you ever go on Pinterest, put your heart pin it... what, you didn't think I would go this whole article, without making one pun?

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
