To Anyone Feeling Overwhelmed, It Is Alright To Be Present In Each Moment
The Preachers Word

To anyone who is feeling overwhelmed,

First of all, you are not at all alone in that. Each of us goes through different seasons where we may feel more anxious, full of nerves, and just overwhelmed. Now, I am not saying this to belittle what you are feeling because well, I am not you and I actually don't know exactly what you are feeling.

However, I know from personal experience that change tends to bring up a whole lot of gross stuff. And sometimes that means battling through some fierce seasons of social anxiety, constant nerves, sleepless nights, and so much more.

If you are currently in a place filled with just those things, all of those built up nerves, anxieties, and hurts, know that this is not where things stop. You are breathing, so your story sure as heck isn't over. If there is one thing that this time could be teaching you it's that there is a lot of strength that comes from trials.

Although, I don't have the answers and as much as I wish I could take all of your anxiety away, I myself can not do that. But, I do have a little challenge for you (I know, a challenge is probably the last thing you think you need right now, but bear with me). In this time of your life, wherever you are, let yourself be excited about things. Look for the little things in your day that give you a little bit of peace.

When you sit down with a friend, be thankful for that very moment. When someone smiles at you, be grateful for that second.

As much as we say not to take the little things and the big things for granted, we sometimes struggle to live that out, right? However, we don't have to do that anymore. When you are in those tiny little moments of happiness, recognize them and be grateful that they exist. Life is busy and chaotic and we could all use a few seconds a day to just be. Use them. Use your time wisely and instead of filling your mind with what you have to be doing next, just be grateful for the very moment you are in.

Not every single moment is going to perfect. But look for those tiny little joys in life. Look for the things that bring you a few seconds of peace amidst the chaos.

I don't expect this little shift in mentality to bring all of your anxieties to a hault, but I do hope and pray that it brings a little glimmer of light to the day and the moments that didn't use to seem so valuable.

"May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit" Romans 15:13

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
