I’ve held the same summer job for four years now. It’s a pretty sweet gig: I sit in a shed with some of my co-workers and wait for children to show up so we can make crafts and play games with them. Some days, we have to wait longer. It’s on these days, that we turn to the radio to fill the silence created by still sleepy college girls.
We typically turn to the recent hits station, and by the third week, this is typically a mistake. Why? They play the same songs over and over. Here’s some of the top annoying songs from this summer:
10. Believer - Imagine Dragons
I’ll admit this one’s pretty good. In fact, it was good enough that I bought their entire album on iTunes. However, after the song’s been played for the fifth time that day, it gets a little old.
9. Versace On The Floor - Bruno Mars
As much as I love Bruno Mars, I do not love hearing this song literally all the time.
8. Something Just Like This - The Chainsmokers & Coldplay
I hate putting Coldplay on this list, but not as much as I hate hearing the same songs on the radio all day, everyday.
7. Strip That Down - Liam Payne feat. Quavo
I also bought this one on iTunes. I think I did so trying to get it out of my head. It didn’t work, in case you’re wondering.
6. It Ain’t Me - Kygo feat. Selena Gomez
At first I thought this was some kind of new country. Then I was like, "This is Selena Gomez?” Now, I just want it to stop.
5. Wild Thoughts - DJ Khaled feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller
The guitar riff is cool. Also, DJ Khaled shouts his name on this one. However, it still has the ability to enter my head and never, ever leave.
4. Issues - Julia Michaels
I got issues with how many times you played this on the radio.
3. No Promises - Cheat Codes feat. Demi Lovato
Radio Station: We’ve got the best variety in the Capital District!
Radio Station: -immediately plays No Promises for the third time today-
Me: So, is that you telling me you lied?
2. Feels - Calvin Harris feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean
Honestly, it’s mostly Katy Perry’s part that annoys me here. It’s not that it’s a bad song, it’s just too catchy.
1. Despacito - Luis Fonzi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber
You had to know this was coming. You also had to know that the reason this became so popular is because Justin Bieber is on it. Otherwise, nobody would care (which is a shame, because the original is pretty good).
