Animation Domination

Children aren't the only ones who love animated movies

Animation Domination

Disney, Pixar and DreamWorks are dominating corporations that have made number one movies all over the world. Animation is mostly made to entertain the youth, but there are adults who love the animated movies just as much, sometimes more, than the children themselves. Some adults would feel awkward buying children’s movies because they might be judged for their choice of interest.

I personally love animated movies. I prefer to watch animated movies over action, horror or romance, because I can get all the same emotions in one animation that I would be watching different movies in different genres. Animated movies have become better and better through the years on grabbing the emotion of the viewer, becoming more heroic, gender equal and wider spread topic-wise.

Disney was solely princesses, but, in recent years, they started making movies where the main focus isn’t only on the princesses. Princesses have evolved throughout the years because gender roles are now different. The older princesses such as Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty all have the damsel in distress plots. The princess meets a handsome prince and somehow runs into trouble. In recent movies, the princesses have a stronger role like in the movies "Tangled," "Frozen" and "The Princess and the Frog." These young ladies still have issues but they are no longer seeking a lover. Pixar, who is in the family company of Disney, has produced family loved movies all across the country. Their movies are mostly about inanimate object or animals expressing their emotions. Among them are "A Bugs Life," "Toy Story," "Monsters Inc." and many more that children of the 90’s love. They are still making movies that are loved by adolescents and adults. DreamWorks has an awesome reputation when it comes to their animation. "How To Train Your Dragon," "Shrek," "The Croods" and "Kung Fu Panda" are just a few titles that they have produced. Their movies deal more with people and animals.

Animation was created to appeal to the younger generations because the movies are action packed, friendly, and emotional. Lately, though, these companies have added adult humor into the mix. Adults have gotten more into animated movies because adults who have children tend to buy more family movies. Movies that both children and adults can watch and enjoy. Therefore, companies who make animated movies started to add hidden humor that adults can enjoy as well as obvious humor that children will laugh along with.

Disney now has gotten to the point where they are making some of people’s favorite Disney movies and turning them into live action movies. The most recently released movie was "The Jungle Book" that premiered April 15, 2016. Viewers were skeptic of how the movie would turn out, but Disney out did themselves. The movie went far beyond their expectation. Eric Eisenberg, writer for the Cinemablend, said the movie was “shot beautifully, and has a fantastic sense of wonder within the world being created. That translates into a big-screen magic.” IMDb rated the movie a 7.9/10 and rotten tomatoes gave the movie a 94 percent. Since the movie was released, I keep hearing people discussing the movie and how wonderful it was. Friends of mine keep saying that it is a movie I have to see in theaters. "The Jungle Book" received so many positive reviews that Disney has accepted the challenge of remaking other old classics into live-action movies such as "Cinderella," "Beauty and the Beast," "The Little Mermaid" and "Tinkerbell." The live-action movies will bring in more adults, who used to watch these movies as children, because they want to see how they could make animation look realistic.

According to Filmsite, “animations are not a strictly-defined genre category, but rather a film technique.” Animation is a collaboration of multiple genres but computerized. Animation will continue to make millions if they keep the fresh ideas rolling and keep children and adults entertained. Children will never cease to see animated movies that will keep them rolling with laughter. Adults, who have children, will understand that animated movies are entertaining and aren’t only for children. There will always be a punchline that adults will understand. Before adults decide to turn the other way from an animated movie, I would suggest to try it, because it could be better than expected.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major.
