Driving is stressful. It doesn't have to be stressful, but it is (for me at least). I am guilty of making it more stressful than it should be. For example, when I am running late to get somewhere (like I was this morning heading to class), I get so hyped up over the smallest things when I am driving. I will find my self yelling like at crazed maniac at someone who pulls out in front of me. Or I will yell at someone if they are riding too close to me. What good is my yelling going to do? I know I am not a perfect driver, nobody is. I know I cannot be the only one who is guilty of having road rage every know and then. It happens. Here are six thoughts you have probably had while driving:
1. "Do NOT pull out in front of me".
This is a very obvious point. However, there are a lot of people who can't seem to follow this simple rule. Do not pull out in front of someone if you are not going to go on. It is that simple.
2. "STAY. IN. YOUR. LANE".
I cannot stress this enough. I do not understand how people manage to not maintain their lane. Stay in between the lines.
3. "Get off of my ass".
This is one of my biggest pet peeves. It really shouldn't bother me, and I probably shouldn't worry about what the person behind me is doing. However, if i see you riding my tail, I will go slower than what I was driving before. It I am driving that slow, just pass me. Easy solution to the problem.
4. "If you are driving slow in the left lane (aka the 'vroom vroom' lane), move to the right lane please".
The left lane on a four-way highway is what I like to call the "vroom vroom" lane. Not saying it is the place to go 90 mph, but it is not the lane to drive slower than the speed limit. If you feel the need to drive slow, stay in the right lane.
5. "Get off the phone and watch where you are going".
First of all, looking at your phone while driving is so not safe. When you find yourself swerving back and forth into other lanes, it is time to put the phone down. For the safety of yourself and others, save your texting priorities until you get to the place you are headed to.
6. "USE A BLINKER".
The blinker in your car is there for a reason. Find it. Use it. It is not that hard.
