For most or for some, these few weeks towards the end of the year are the only days you actually concurrently have off. But, despite the usual rushed holiday endeavors, it's quite necessary to actually rest when you are on a break. Whether that means sleeping, spending time with those you don't often see, or simply staying inside, it is okay to not be on-the-go all the time.
There are many opportunities when you are rushed and lacking rest to become mad, stressed, or react to some things more than usual. A big trigger of this is traffic. It is the absolute worst when someone cuts you off after you've been waiting longer than them or feel like you haven't moved 10 inches in 30 minutes. May it be a sign to stay on the other side of town or to do your holiday shopping sooner, sometimes it is just inevitable. In these moments you have to understand that you are not the first or last to experience these emotions, for there is probably 100 other people within 5 miles feeling the same.
Another strategy to cope with the relaxation deficiency is to make yourself un-busy. I'm not saying don't show up to work even though you are scheduled, I'm just saying it's not bad to tell a friend you'll see them another day. It's okay to not workout one day. It's okay to not see people one day. Even if you have to verbally remind yourself of this (sometimes I do), it is okay to cut yourself some slack, preferably a big piece.
If some good old fashioned sleep is what you need, some good old fashioned sleep is what you should get. To make it easier for you I've made a playlist to suit, filled with instrumentals and slow words to put you where you should be.
... and to all a good night.
