An Open Thank You To My College Best Friend

To The Best Friend Who Is More Like A Sister,

Coming into college, I was beyond nervous. I had left my small town and the friends I had known almost my entire life for a new, exciting place that was so much different than the normal I was used to. Though I was excited to start fresh and begin my life, I was also nervous that I wouldn’t make any new friends.

But then I met you. You made me realize that it was ok that I was a little quirky because you kinda were too. You and I have shared so many laughs together, but so many tears as well. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have made it through my first year of college smiling and with so many memories under my belt. I can’t wait to watch our friendship continue to grow, but in the meantime, I’d like to take a minute to thank you for everything you’ve done for me.

Thank you for always being my shoulder to cry on, and my therapist during a tough time. Whenever something would happen, you are the first person I go to. Even though you're not a licensed psychologist, I know that you'll give me the best advice, but also not be afraid to tell me straight up what I need to hear, even when it may not be what I wanted to. Thank you for listening to my endless rants about boys that screwed me over, how hectic my school schedule is, and how much the dining center food sucks. But thank you for being there after the rant too, to hold me when tears were streaming down my face, and to tell me that everything was going to be ok because you knew that I was strong enough to make it through any battle.

Thank you for always pushing me and motivating me to be a better version of myself. Even on lazy days, you pushed me to do my homework and go to the gym, because you always knew that I’d feel better after I did, and I’d regret it if I didn't. Thank you for always pushing me where you saw potential, even if I was ready to give up. I have grown a lot this past year, and I couldn’t have done it without you. Having you in my life has made me realize that it is ok to be my real self because you love me for it. It’s also made me become stronger and fearless because you were always there for me with a hand to hold and a voice that was telling me to keep going even when all I wanted to do was give up.

Finally, thank you for being my best friend. Thank you for sharing endless laughs and midnight vending machine snacks with me. Thank you for always being down to get Subway at 1 am just because we could, and for always knowing exactly what I wanted without even saying a word. Since I’ve met you, I’ve smiled more, laughed harder, and lived my life on a happier note. You are the sunshine that came into my life when my sky was gray, and you truly did change my life. I hope you know that I value your friendship more than anything and that you’ll never be able to get rid of me because I’m never letting you go. I love you to the moon and back homie, so thank you again, for everything.

Forever and Always,

Your Homie And Forever Girlfriend

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
