The perfect duo, Lorelai and Rory Gilmore (played by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel), are a mother- daughter pair who take on life together. The show originally was released in 2000 and ended its air time in 2006.
Throughout the six original seasons, viewers fell in love with Rory and Lorelai because of their independence and spunk. On the show, we watched Rory grow up and fulfill her dream of going to an Ivy League school.
Lorelai and Rory had a bond like no other. Lorelai had Rory when she was 16, so the two girls grew up together. They figured out life, love, and relationships as a team.
They lived in a sleepy small town called Stars Hollow. One of the most popular spots on the show was Luke's Diner run by the man himself, Luke. Every morning the two girls would stop by the diner for some coffee and a doughnut before parting ways for the day.
What made viewers love the duo so much were their witty comments. They were quick thinkers and always ready to make fun of someone.
As the show came to a close, the die hard fans were disappointed. The series ended with Lorelai and Luke sharing a kiss, leaving the viewers frantic because everyone wanted to know what the future held for them. Rory left Stars Hollow to pursue a job opportunity, making people wonder if she succeeded in the business world.
When the world became aware of the news that Gilmore Girls was being brought back, it created world wide excitement for viewers of all ages. Die hard fans began their count downs and began to plan their viewing parties.
Finally November 25, 2016 arrived and the 4 part mini series launch on Netflix.
To say the least, a lot of the GG fanatics were highly disappointed. Instead of the fun light-hearted conversations, the topics were more serious and meant for adults. Rather than spicy and fiery remarks, Lorelai and Rory responded with sexual jokes which made some scenes cringe worthy. Viewers were sad to see that Lorelai and Luke never married and that Rory turned out to be a struggling and unsuccessful journalist.
All in all, the "Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life" crushed many peoples hearts. The show they had grown up loving was no longer family appropriate. The shows producer decided to stick the loved series in with all the unloved revamps like "Fuller House."
So, thank you Gilmore Girls producers for crushing us. Thank you for taking away two characters that were a positive influence and turning them into everybody else. Thanks for bringing back a series that took away all the joy and hilariousness out of two beloved characters. I know you are proud of how you did on this piece of film but all you did was ruin one of the most loved TV show of the 2000s.
