An Open Letter To Trump Supporters
The Washington Times

Dear Donald Trump Supporters,

I am in no way trying to sway you away from your beloved presidential candidate. I am in no way trying to change your political opinions. The only thing I want to do is help you understand the hurt that many people feel as a result of Trump’s statements. Yes, I know everyone loves Trump because of his openness and willingness to say anything and everything, but the issue is that all he ever says is hurtful. Trump has offended so many people that it is hard to keep track of. He’s offended Muslims, immigrants, Asians, the disabled, and the list goes on and on.

In no way can I imagine that all of these offended people not be hurt, because I know I am. I am beyond hurt in the manner that Trump can speak of groups of people and not be called out for it. I am beyond hurt that he continues to attack people who want nothing other than a better life. I am beyond hurt that he offended my parents, my family, and my ancestry when he said that Mexico is sending over their drugs, their crime, and their rapists. I am beyond hurt that many people are still willing to support a man who's done nothing other than hurt and offend people.

Not only has Trump said a numerous of hurtful words, but he continues to mock all hardworking immigrants and people who simply want a better life. My intention is not to attack Trump, my intention is to point out that we have failed as a society if we allow a public figure or anyone to express themselves in such a manner and not be called out for it. Perhaps we should all be thankful that Trump has exposed the racism that still exists in this country, but this doesn't mean we have to stand by and accept it. This means we have to take a stand and tackle the racism that resides in our society and country.

Trump wants to "Make America Great Again." Although America has never been great because of its history, I say we "Make America Great Again" by learning how to respect each other and stand up for one another. The only way we can make a difference is if we take a stand against hurtful comments, racial slurs, and realize that words hurt. I am calling for all Millennials to open their eyes to what is occurring not only in our personal spheres, but all around us. I am calling for Millennials to do their part and end the offenses and the hurtful statements that people such as Trump make.

If after all of this you still think Trump's statements are correct and harmless, feel free to eliminate me from social media and stop talking to me because if you can’t understand my hurt you're either not human or completely oblivious. I stand in solidarity not only with Mexicans, but with all offended groups. I stand with all of you and hopefully many more will too.

Sincerely,

A proud Latina, daughter of Mexican immigrants

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
