As sad as it may be, your high school years are coming to an end and your college years are coming up closer than you think. You will be moving away from home and starting a brand new chapter. This chapter of your life will be one of the absolute best ones, so make sure you write a good chapter. It will make a great story, trust me.

Take it from the girl who has only 10 days left of her first year of college, it goes by SO fast. I blinked and it is almost summer. This year has been filled with some of the best times of my life, even though I have had to study until the wee hours of the morning and have 4 presentations due before finals (crazy, I know), I have made the most of my first college experience.

I was one of those people that was not ready to see high school come to an end. I had made some of the most wonderful memories my senior year and made the best friendships. Going from seeing my friends every day to only seeing them on breaks or not at all has the been one of the biggest adjustments about college but PLEASE make friends in college. I really can't stress that enough, friend. Community is so important and you will need people to guide you and give you good advice when you think your life is falling apart because you have so much to do and so little time to do it. You will be so glad you decided to talk to that person in your 8 am or at dinner one night, seriously do it.

Please don't stress yourself out either. There will be times when you want to bang your head on a wall or scream (maybe a little dramatic but really) but take the time to breathe and rest in the fact that Jesus has your best plan in mind. Don't stress about classes or registering for classes, it will work out the way it is supposed to. You will be put in the classes that you need and you will be just fine.

HAVE FUN. I really can't stress that enough. Please go to every event that your college offers and make the most out of them, even if they seem a little odd. Go to all the dances or what they call "college prom" with the cute guy in your biology class or a group of friends, you'll want these memories. Join random sports teams that you never had the opportunity to do in high school, even if it is intramural (those are fun too).

Take in every aspect of your campus. From the green grass to the intricate designs of the buildings and all the smells, even if they are bad. You will miss every little detail about your college campus when you're stuck at work one day but hopefully, you will be doing what you love.

If you move away from home and are in a new town, go explore it. Go to the downtown restaurants and little holes in the wall because those are usually the best. Go on fun adventures with your college friends because one day, you'll wish you had. I am lucky enough to live at home while going to college but if you are living on campus, make sure you take the time to visit/call your family. They want to hear from you, I promise. Tell them every aspect of your day even if all you did was nap ( DO THAT). Take naps every chance you get but make sure your homework gets done too.

Your first year of college will definitely be a huge adjustment and definitely isn't the same as high school but it will be some of the best times of your life, and I hope you have the absolute best time.

Love,

A Future College Sophomore

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
