Dear Spring,
I miss you.
I miss the warmth of the sun and the greenness of the grass. I miss the sweet scent of newly blossoming flowers. I miss the little green bulbs on the trees that will soon open, providing a blanket of shade. I miss the way everything looks a little brighter. The way the sky looks a little bluer. And the way the days grow a little longer, one at a time.
Springtime is a reawakening. No longer do we walk with our heads down, braced against the wind, but instead we turn our faces toward the sun, smiling at the way our face warms beneath its bright rays. Winter coats are exchanged for light jackets and the mittens are stowed away until the temperatures drop again. The winter winds have ceased and we no longer rush from place to place. Instead, we stroll, we take our time, we enjoy the precious moments between classes that can be spent outside after months of being indoors.
Spring. So full of potential, full of life, and full of an uplifting happiness that can only be found when the sun sticks around and our windows are open. Children ride their bikes and meet their friends for a game of soccer. Pet lovers take their pup out for a game of fetch. Homeowners begin landscaping. College students take their books and blankets outside. The world begins to reawaken.
It's been too long. The winter months are drab, gray and leave me with a chill I can't shake. So please, hurry back.
