“Hey baby, how you doin’?” is something all Sacred Heart students can see and literally hear Sandy’s voice uttering those same words.

Sacred Heart has a humungous staff… from all the shuttle drivers, to the professors, to all those who work in Linda’s and 63’s, to even the cleaning staff. But, none of those people have had as much of an impact on us as Sandy has. There is no doubt in my mind that Sandy is the best staff member at SHU and the most underrated person at the university. Honestly, we should be giving out awards in her name. I’m sure all 4,000+ people know exactly who I am talking about, and most likely agree because it is impossible to dislike Sandy. And when 4,000 people know who you are and appreciate you, you know you must be doing something right.

Sandy, you’re infinite positivity inspires us all. On days when I don’t feel like going to class, I know I can walk into 63’s and instantly feel a bit happier just because you are so happy all the time. You make it a point to go around the room and interact with everyone there. You don’t simply say a “hello”, instead you ask questions and really get to know everyone in the room and who they are friends with. You even go so far as to ask where their friends are if they are seen without them. It’s nice to know how much you care.

You always remind us when special events are coming up, and forewarn us what is the best to eat there for the night. There was no way anyone was missing the Late Night Breakfast, because you basically announced it to the whole school. Everyone pays more attention to you than they do to their email. You also attend every show and event that goes on at school that you are available for. We all look forward to your support and appreciate it. You are so involved in the school community even outside of 63’s.

Finally, thanks for those free swipes when you know we need them. You can see when we’re running low on swipes, and we totally appreciate you pretending as if we have already swiped in on an extremely rare occasion. You’d rather just let us eat than see us go hungry. I’ve never seen you give someone a hard time for not having any more swipes left or for using someone else’s card when they have already run out themselves. You understand what it’s like to be a hungry college student. So thanks for that.

Thanks for being freaking awesome Sandy. Have a great summer and we can’t wait to see you in the fall.

Love,

All the students of Sacred Heart

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
