An Open Letter To My Sleep Schedule

Sorry for not being around.

To my beloved and neglected sleep schedule,

I wish to sincerely apologize for neglecting you as of lately. As a college student, I'm not sure it can be helped, though it should be better next semester (though I did think the same thing last semester).

I wish we could go steady, but I've started seeing other naps. I know that I should be sleeping at about 8 hours a day and at night, but it just isn't happening. I have too much schoolwork, extra-curricular activities, and too little time. I've tried scheduling around the issue, but it hasn't worked yet.

I wish the day was 30 hours, but alas, it's only 24. There's just too much to do and too little time. Unfortunately, that usually means cutting time that I would have spent sleeping. When I have the choice to write a paper or go to sleep before one in the morning, the paper almost always wins.

It's not that I don't know the importance of sleep, it's that I just don't have time.

So odds are, I will keep neglecting you, dear sleep schedule. I hope one day in the future we can reconcile.

Maybe we could meet up over winter break?

Sincerely,

Someone who wishes you were still around

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
