An Open Letter To My Sister On Graduation Day

It's crazy to think you're all done with school.

The dreaded "G-word" is finally here! It's hard to believe that you're already graduating college today! I swear it was just yesterday that we were driving mom and dad crazy and teaming up on them together. Now, you're crazy old and are officially going to be an adult! I'm so proud of everything you've accomplished, and I'm incredibly lucky to call you my sister. Over the past for years of your college career, I have learned so much from you, and what I have learned will stay with me throughout the rest of my college years and beyond. On your big day, here's five big thank yous I have for you:

1. For teaching me to stay true to myself

No matter who or what was changing, you always taught me to stay true to myself. Just because something else was changing, it didn't mean that I had to change with it. Staying true to yourself is one of the hardest things to do, but you have taught me that it's also one of the most important.

2. For showing me to never give up

Three ten page papers, two exams and two presentations due in the same week... not a problem. You taught me to never let stress get the best of me, and to always keep working, because in just a few days it would all be over.

3. For teaching me it's okay to make mistakes, and lots of them

The best way to learn is by learning what not to do, and the only way to learn that is to make mistakes. Mistakes teach you what you shouldn't do or what doesn't works and why. We need to keep making mistakes to keep learning, and that's perfectly fine.

4. For teaching me the importance of hard work

You have taught me that working hours on an assignment is totally worth seeing an 'A' put into the grade book. At first I was a little skeptical, but you were right. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing your hard work turn into a perfect grade.

5. For being the best sister a girl could ask for

No matter how many miles apart we've been, I could always count on you, whether it's 3 a.m. or 3 p.m., you're always there. You have taught me so much, and for that I am forever grateful.

It's crazy to think you're all done with school and are going to be starting a full time job in just a couple months, but I couldn't be happier for you. You have worked so hard, and you deserve everything good coming your way. I'm so proud, and I love you so much!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
