Ohana means family, but no one said you were limited to one.

Forever Your Kimmy Gibbler
Full House Media

If you’ve ever watched the TV show Full House, you definitely know the funny and bright, loving character, Kimmy Gibbler. Well, I have quickly come to realize that I am the Kimmy Gibbler of my friends, and I’m so grateful to be part of a few Tanner family households.

So, to my best friends families,

Thank you. Thank you for raising one of the most important people in my life. Someone I can always depend on at the push of a button, someone who I can share countless hours with without ever feeling bored, someone who I can be serious with or absolutely ridiculous with at the flip of a switch, someone who cares if I’m having a good day or a bad day. But above all else, someone who I’m grateful and proud to call my best friend!

Thank you for always welcoming me with open arms and making me feel like a part of your family. When I enter your house, I feel safe and warm like I would entering my own home. That feeling makes it easy to lose track of time and watch countless hours go by when I’m hanging out at your house. And thank you for feeding me when I come to visit! Sometimes I’m not even invited to stay for dinner, but instead you'll just set an extra plate for me. After all the years I’ve spent at your house, I’m still shocked when that happens. It’s a gesture that puts the biggest smile on my face and never goes under-appreciated. In addition, I love your cooking. Nothing tastes better than a home-cooked meal. So thank you! Your home is my home-away-from-home!

Thank you for always extending an extra invitation to me for family parties. Over the years I’ve gotten to know aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins and other family members. Your extended family quickly made me feel right at home with sarcasm flying from every direction, warm hugs and welcoming personalities. Heck! We even stepped it up a notch and became Facebook friends! That’s reaching a wonderful new level of friendship! With my family being so far apart from one another, it always give me a warm feeling knowing I can always count on spending holidays with yours!

To my best friend’s siblings, you’re basically my siblings. What does this mean exactly? It means, we tease each other, get annoyed with one another, but can always depend on each other. Without hesitation I will always have your back. No matter what the situation is, you can always count on me to be there when you need me (unless your idea would send us to jail, then I might try to talk you out of it). Never think twice about calling me if you needed me. At the end of the day, I know I can always count on my best friends to be there for my sibling, so I want you to know that you can expect the same from me. No matter what time of the day it is or where I am, I’ll be there!

But what I'm most appreciative for, is the way you all care. Whenever I visit, you never fail to ask how my family and I are doing. And when my world came crashing down you were all there for us. When my dad passed away, without hesitation, all of you jumped to comfort my family and I. You made us food, offered everything you could, and even attended my father’s memorial. And for that, I will be eternally grateful to be blessed with such amazing people in my life. You continue to show your love and support by inviting my family and I to partake in holidays alongside yours. I promise I will show the same love and care for your family the same way you did for mine.

Ohana means family, but no one said you’re limited to one. So thank you from the bottom of my heart to my best friends families for allowing me to be a part of yours. I will always be your Kimmy Gibbler, and you will always be my Tanner's.

Love Always,
Sabrina (Your adopted Asian)

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
