To My Best Friend's Next Boyfriend

If she comes home crying you can bet that those headlights outside your window are mine.

Let me premise this by saying, I love my best friends and if anyone is even remotely thinking about mistreating them, you really shouldn't even try. Okay, now that that is said, I can talk about my best friends. With knowing them for a while I have come to know them more than you probably ever will. I know their likes and dislikes, all their embarrassing stories, their middle names, their family issues and so much more. If you ever even think about dating one of them you have to get to know them first.

In the past years, I've learned that one of my friends hates pickles, she is a vegetarian, she despises country music, she can sleep until 4 in the evening, and so much more. You have to know those things about them to get who they are as a person. You have to know that she loves extensive amounts of lettuce and her alone time.

My second best friend, on the other hand, she absolutely loves pickles, but only the Klaussen kind. She loves The Chainsmokers and she has the willpower to stay up until 7 in the morning to finish a project that she knows is going to get her that degree.

My best friends grew up in a small town and they have lots of family issues. I listen to them. I make sure I tell them that no matter what, I will always be there for them and they do the same for me.

To make sure you are treating them right you need to pay attention closely. They both like their space. You have to be able to read that without them telling you, or it will not end well.

Another thing you should know is that I am always going to be there. I am their best friend, and just because you are around doesn't mean I am going anywhere. So you should probably get to know me too.

I've seen all the screenshots of your text conversations, I've stalked all of your social media and I know who all your past relationships were. I know who your mom is, I know who your dad and uncle Billy is. I know. So let's get one thing straight- you better never lie to her. Because if you do, I'll give you a sixty-second headstart to tell her and lay all the cards on the table before I do.

if you ever need to buy them a gift- ask me first. I know exactly what they want because they have already told me or sent me screenshots of what they want. So please don't go buy them anything cheap or that will break easily because they deserve to get what they want.

If she comes home crying you can bet that those headlights outside your window are mine.

Honestly, I would love to be friends with you. If you and I can get along it could be amazing. Just know that my best friends, you will never deserve them and you will spend your whole life proving that you do.

But realize this- you might not think any of this applies to you because I am "just the best friend", but I'll tell you what. I've convinced her of many things. I can convince her that you aren't the one. You don't want to test that theory because you'll end up without her, I promise you.

In conclusion, you will be my best friend's best friend soon and that is okay. Just know that that day will only come when you put a ring on her finger. Until then, follow my advice.

XOXO,

Her Bestie

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
