Dear Donald and Hillary,
We need change. Not the change that Obama talked about in 2008, but actual change. You have the power to do that. You have the power to change the course of America and its people. You have the opportunity to be written into third graders' history books with this possible position, and you are throwing it away. You’re letting greed, power and money get the best of you. I hope you wanted this position to better America and its people, not for your own agenda. We need a leader now more than ever. Someone to stand up and rejoin this country instead of watching it fall. I think I can speak for a majority of Americans when I say I am fed up. I am sick and tired of the government overstepping boundaries when they should not and not measuring up when society need them.
As the National Republican Convention comes to an end and everyone looks to the Democrats for their response, I fear that the focus is not where it should be. We worried more about if Trump’s wife plagiarized a speech or Ted Cruz being booed of the stage instead of the actual politics. So much of this campaign has been about the drama of the two candidates instead of what they are going to do to fulfill the position of Commander in Chief. One thing is being left out of the election, and that is politics and issues that actually matter.
Every day we see America become more divided. This is evident as countless police officers have lost their lives in the line of duty because of senseless, lawless acts. Where is President Obama in this matter? Probably off in his beach house not worrying about it because his term is almost up. This country is experiencing what it is like not to have any leadership from the person who was never support to abandon us. While this country grows more restless every day, Obama is off in Air Force One, which is operated by tax payer dollars, campaigning for Hillary. In government classes we are taught that one of the president’s main roles is to gather the nation after a tragedy, not continue to tear them apart.
The United States is at a very pivotal point in our history. We have a little more than four months until we decide the next president. Our current president continues to show his true character by setting back and letting problems get even worse. My challenge to both candidates is to show us what your made of. Give this campaign all that you have and more. Focus on how you are going to make this country better, how you are going to reunite this country, and answer the question,” Why do you deserve to be the next president?”
Sincerely,
An American Voter
