An Open Letter To The World's Best Big
Alaina Pierson

Dear Meg, my Big,

I'm writing this letter to you because I couldn't be more grateful for you to be part of my life. I'm so happy that Alpha Omicron Pi brought us together to be big and little. Since meeting you, my life has changed in so many ways, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for us as big and little.

Thank you for being the big sister I never had. Your advice and guidance is much-needed, and you mean every single word you say. When we first met at Espresso Royale, I knew you were an awesome person because you were so genuine. You always put a smile on my face, and provide a shoulder to cry on. I'm glad that I can go to you when I need to vent about boys or a bad day. You've taught me that it's okay to be myself, and that letting go and change are good things. You encourage me and are my support system.

You are such a unique person, and you have no idea. Your intelligence is extraordinary; I couldn't imagine studying astrophysics or interning for a company in Wisconsin or halfway around the world in Belgium. You care so much about others that you put Mother Theresa to shame. Your kindness exudes and you light up every room you walk into. You remember the little details about everyone, and you know how to make them feel special.

I love our dinner and ice cream dates - we need to do those more often by the way. I love that we can dance and act like idiots at sorority events and socials. I love that we Snapchat each other ugly faces in hopes that we don't screenshot the pictures to post them for all to see. No matter where we are or what we're doing, we always have fun.

The memories we've made are unforgettable, and I know the upcoming years will be even better. I'm lucky that I can spend three whole years with you because some littles only get to spend a year or so with their bigs. There's no better big in the world than you, Meg. I bet you don't know how amazing you are.

I will always be there for you when you need me. I will always have your back. No matter what happens, you can count on me. We're in this together. I couldn't be more proud of you or the fact that I'm your little. I miss you so much, and Belgium is definitely blessed by your presence.

Thank you for everything. I don't know how much I can thank you. I know that everything happens for a reason, and there was a reason that we were paired together. I couldn't be more fortunate to know you. Just keep being you for you. Keep spreading love and being positive like there's no tomorrow, and never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something. You can do anything you set your mind to with your positive outlook.

I hope that you're loving Belgium because I'm sure Belgium loves you. It looks absolutely beautiful, and I wish I could fly over to see you. We can travel together to other countries one day and be pack rats who live out of their suitcases. I wish that we could've spent the summer together, but it's great to see you exploring the world. We only get one time on this earth so to speak, so you may as well see all of it!

I cannot wait for you to be back in the United States and I cannot wait to see you! I miss you so much, and I cannot wait to hear all of your overseas adventures. Thank you so much for being the best friend, basically sister, and big a girl could ever ask for.

Love always,

Alaina, your Little

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
