An Open Good-Bye To My Freshman Year Roommate

You were the best roommate I could have asked for.

An Open Good-Bye To My Freshman Year Roommate

How many people told you horror stories of their roommate freshman year? How many friends did you know that switched rooms or roommates? I know way to many people who absolutely hated their roommates and this is hard for me to imagine because I love mine. Maybe we were just lucky, maybe it was fate or some higher power that placed us together, regardless my year would have been very different if I had not had the opportunity to spend it with my beautiful roommate. Saying good-bye to her is not easy and as we travel down our different paths in life I hope that I will hold the same special place in her heart as she holds in mine.

Dearest Roommate,

You are the best and please take it seriously when I say this because I truly mean it. I've seen girls brought to tears by their roommates and all the time I think to myself, "Wow, I lucked out." I am going to truly miss living with you next year. I will miss our deep, late night talks when one of us comes in during the wee morning hours or our rants about school, relationships, and life in general. Though I will miss you I have faith that this is not good-bye forever. This year has brought us so close that I think in you I have made a friend for life.

This year has not been easy for either one of us. I have seen you broken, stressed and all but ready to give up and you have seen me the same. When I was at my lowest it was you that was there to hold me when I cried and tell me that everything would be OK. You are always willing to listen when I've had a bad day or when I just need to talk. You are thoughtful and considerate. Thank you for never turning on the light when I am sleeping or being loud at inappropriate times. Thank you for leaving me notes and giving me presents for my birthday. Thank you for sharing and for not taking things without asking. Thank you for always respecting my privacy as well as my personal space. Thank you for being you.

I am sure that there are times this year when you have lost your patience with me. I know I am not always the neatest person and I know sometimes I'm nosy about your life but thank you for putting up with my shenanigans. I just want you to know that I care about you and that you have become one of my greatest friends. I am so fortunate to have spent this year with you and I cannot believe how quickly it has flown by. I wish you the best of luck in your future and pray that wherever you end up, whatever you're doing, that you will not forget me. You will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for being the best roommate ever.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
